Messages from the President and the Executive Director
As President of the Delaware League of Local Governments for the year 2010, I look forward to working with representatives of the governments of the state of Delaware, our counties, and each and every one of our glorious state’s 57 municipalities. We all face common challenges as elected officials. Together we can take action that will both serve our constituency and address quality-of-life issues at the local, state, and even national levels. Please join me in making this year one of accomplishments and achievemenets through communication, education, and with a demonstration of leadership skills that ultimately will protect and provide increased benefits to the people of our towns and state. Feel free to contact me at any time.
James L. Ford III
Mayor, City of Lewes
As the Executive Director of the Delaware League of Local Governments for the past 17 years, I am so proud of the many accomplishments that have been achieved with little or no staff; however, with the help of the City of Dover, Town of Smyrna, Town of Camden, and family and friends, this league is recognized throughout the United States. Our latest endeavor is this website, which was endorsed by our League President James Ford. This site will need the endorsement of all of our municipalities and three counties. A special thanks to [DLLG lobbyist] Rhett Ruggerio, [DLLG executive assistant] Don Mulrine, and [the University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration’s] Mark Deshon for their special expertise. Each month we will highlight a “Municipality of the Month.” Thanks for your support and dedication to the League, and with your support the DLLG website will be first class.
