Welcome to the Delaware League of Local Governments’ website.

photo of James L. FordIt is an honor to serve as President of this organization. I look forward to all of us working together to make our individual towns/cities and our state an even better place to live. In the times ahead, we all will face challenges regarding our responsibilities as elected and appointed officials. By communicating, networking, and sharing ideas, we can continue to not only maintain, but improve, the quality of life for our constituency.

map of Delaware's 57 municipalitiesAs the great American Benjamin Franklin once challenged, “We must all hang together or most assuredly we will all hang separately.” The 57 cities, towns, and villages in Delaware have come to believe in that motto and have followed the advice of our late, great patriot.

Thanks for visiting the site. I hope you will return soon, as we’ll have ongoing news and updates to share.

Sincerely,

James L. Ford, III, President
Mayor, City of Lewes

photo of George WrightAs the Executive Director of the Delaware League of Local Governments for the past 17 years, I am so proud of the many accomplishments that have been achieved with little or no staff; however, with the help of the City of Dover, Town of Smyrna, Town of Camden, and family and friends, this league is recognized throughout the United States.  Our latest endeavor is this website, which was endorsed by our League President James Ford.  This site will need the endorsement of all of our municipalities and three counties.  A special thanks to [DLLG lobbyist] Rhett Ruggerio, [DLLG executive assistant] Don Mulrine, and [the University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration’s] Mark Deshon for their special expertise.  Each month we will highlight a “Municipality of the Month.”  Thanks for your support and dedication to the League, and with your support the DLLG website will be first class.
